DISCOMFORT IS THE CATALYST FOR GROWTH

Yes, you read correctly: get comfortable with being uncomfortable.

We, as a society, lean too heavily on the narrative that we must bask in the waters of serenity and comfort ALL THE TIME.

THAT IS AN ILLUSION!

This way of thinking can be an early DEATH to the spirit.  If we pause, breathe and TRUST that discomfort can be one of our GREATEST TEACHERS, then we can truly arrive at the PRECIPICE OF CHANGE.

Think back and remember the situations in your life when you truly MOVED FORWARD. How did it feel?   AGONIZING.  TORTUROUS.  And, naturally, EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE.  Nobody avoids this stress.   Every breakthrough, stepping stone and new awareness is almost always achieved by traveling through RESISTANCE, SELF-DOUBT and FEAR.

Putting ourselves in a new, challenging and unfamiliar situation triggers a unique part of the brain that releases DOPAMINE, a chemical, a neurotransmitter, that helps control the brain’s reward and pleasure centers.

When we experience uncomfortableness, we can choose to embrace it.  This creates an ACTION that leads to a SHIFT.  The shift creates the space for a new way of living…or thinking. Or creative problem solving. And usually sheds the “old” and makes room for a deeper, more conscious self.

So, the next time you feel uncomfortable, take out the WELCOME MAT and INVITE IT IN.  Get excited that you are going to create something DIFFERENT in your life—and LOVE the PARADIGM SHIFT that will EXPAND your perspective.  The possibilities are ENDLESS!
